Superstar Rajinikanth is desperate for success and he pinned many hopes on his next film titled Darbar. Directed by AR Murugadoss, the film is said to be a mass entertainer and Rajinikanth essayed the role of a ruthless cop and an encounter specialist in Darbar. Nayanthara is the leading lady and Suniel Shetty essayed the role of the lead antagonist. Darbar released in record number of screens in Telugu and Tamil yesterday.
The film received a mixed response but the first day collections have been decent across the Telugu states. Darbar collected a theatrical share of Rs 4.40 crores on its first day which is decent. The Telugu theatrical rights are sold for Rs 15 crores. Lyca Productions are the producers and Anirudh composed the music. Here are the first day one collections of Darbar:
